Federal Judge Visits the Chase Center
On Tuesday, June 9th, 2015, the Chase Center received a visit from United States Federal Judge Victor Bolden. The Chase Center, located in Waterbury, CT, provides residential reentry work release services to male clients, as well as home confinement and community court services. The Chase Center is funded by the Connecticut Department of Correction and the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and is one of CSI’s largest residential programs.
During the visit, Associate Program Director Michael Siegel led Judge Bolden and several of his staff on a program tour. Following the tour, the visitors sat in on an employment services group. Employment services are one of the key components of the program’s curriculum, which also features case management, individualized treatment plans, cognitive behavioral groups, and a number of evidence-based interventions. By providing clients with these services, the program can increase their chances of receiving successful discharges and returning to their communities with the skills needed to support themselves and avoid reoffending.
