PREA - Prison Rape Elimination Act
Advocates of a Safe and Healthy Culture
At Community Solutions, Inc. (CSI), the safety and security of our clientele has always been a high priority. CSI has committed to promoting a safe and healthy culture through compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).
PREA was created to eliminate sexual abuse in correctional facilities. PREA is a federal legislation that requires correctional facilities to comply with specific regulations that provide for a zero-tolerance stance against any sexual abuse or sexual harassment incidents between residents, staff, volunteers, and contractors. At CSI, a zero-tolerance policy addresses all of the PREA requirements. Specifically, the Adult Residential Work Release programs adhere to the PREA requirements. The staff and residents of CSI have been trained in PREA policies and procedures and know what to do in the event of an actual sexual assault or sexual harassment incident. CSI also has staff who are specially trained to investigate sexual harassment incidents according to PREA and serve as investigators. Anyone can report a case of sexual abuse or sexual harassment, including a staff person, a resident, a member of a resident’s family, or a resident’s friend. All reports will be investigated and kept confidential.
Anyone interested in reporting an instance of sexual abuse and/or harassment by a CSI staff person, volunteer, intern, contractor, or program participant may do so without fear of reprisal or retaliation. To contact the CSI PREA Coordinator or report a case of sexual abuse or sexual harassment, please send email to PREA@csimail.org, call (860) 986-1639, fax to the Attention of the PREA Coordinator at (860) 683-7199, or send a notice to:
